Muslim Community Stepping Closer To Building Mosque And School- Third Annual Event Raising Donations For First Islamic Center

Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 5:30- 9 pm, at Noah’s South Jordan, the Islamic Community of Salt Lake City, UT hosts their third annual event in hopes of moving along the process of purchasing land and building their first Islamic center, consisting of a Mosque and school.

Last years annual fundraiser raised $200,000, and this year, with the current economic turmoil, auction items have been more difficult to come by, but President of the Board of Trustees, Nadeem Ahmed, the base of the Utah Islamic community for the past 20 years states “This year we are expecting 200 guests, and are open and welcome to the public’s participation. Dinner will be served along with a presentation inclining guests to donate towards land and the building process of the Islamic Center.”

The Islamic society currently resides their spiritual practices in Sandy, UT and hope to find ground near 90th South, off the freeway, so people from all over Salt Lake areas have convenient access to worship.

The ever expanding Muslim kinship are flowing new participants from countries such as Bosnia, Somalia, etc. and each year their Islamic population increases more. The Muslim community participates in interfaith programs with other churches and work with religious groups from Logan to Park City, all of which have been supportive and welcoming to the dreams and vision of the first and new, true Islamic Center.

Noah’s South Jordan is located at 322 West 1100 South, South Jordan, UT 84095, and the event will take place on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 5:30-9pm.
