What's in a NAME...

Juliet:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

Have you ever wondered how important or as Juliet states above unimportant a name is.  Everything we talk about or do is associated with a name.  Every person, animal, place, thing, and abstract idea has a name, we even have a name for all of these things (A noun is a word used to NAME).  Even your name has a history a story about how it came to be.  Our names are how we are identified.  In China a name is/was everything, remember this quote from Mushu...

Mushu: Dishonor on you, Dishonor on your Family

With that being said, have you ever wondered where NOAH'S got it's name?  I sat down with Bil Bowser the Founder & CEO of NOAH'S and asked him the following questions.

 1.  Why did you name your company Noah's?
-   It has a lot of symbology...Gathering place, Religiously Universal,  Noah is recognized in many religions not just Christianity.  It already has over 5000 yrs of branding.  It just fits.

2. What did/do you want the name to communicate to people?
-  Gathering Place...That is the ultimate goal. We have always wanted everyone to feel comfortable.    I want NOAH'S to have that home away from home feel.

3.  Where did the name come from...personal ties,  brainstorming meeting?
-  It just came to me one night.  I was walking out of a grocery store,  I turned to my wife and said we are going to name it NOAH'S.

4.  How long did it take you to settle on the name Noah's for your company?
-  30 sec.  I really didn't spend time on it.  It just came.

5. What were some of the other names that you thought about using, if any?
-  There were no other names.  NOAH'S was it.

6.  If you could change the name would you? If yes, What would you change it to?
-  I wouldn't change the name, nothing else seems to fit so perfectly.  There is a lot of similarities between the story of Noah and what NOAH'S does.

So, maybe what Juliet said is true.  A name really doesn't matter; a rose will still smell as sweet even if we called it something different.  Mulan would have still done what she did whether or not her name was Sue, Barb or Muchu.  The point is even if NOAH'S was named something different.  We would still be great at what we do because it's the experience and emotions that we associate with the name that makes the name special in the first place.
